ANTI-BULLYING POLICY & PROCEDURES
Basildon Rugby Club will not tolerate bullying - however we recognise that from time to time, bullying behaviour may occur.
Basildon Rugby Club will work to ensure any instances of bullying are identified, addressed, and eliminated from the club.
Club members must be alert to the signs of bullying and be aware that a failure to respond may be interpreted as condoning the behaviour.
There are three main types of bullying:
Physical e.g.
- hitting,
- kicking,
- punching
Verbal e.g.
- racist or
- homophobic remarks,
- threats,
- name calling
Emotional e.g.
- persistent negative feedback,
- isolation
Bullying behaviour may also include:
Other forms of violence
- Sarcasm, rumour spreading, persistent teasing, theft Tormenting, ridiculing, humiliation
- Racial taunts, gestures, religious taunts
- Unwanted physical contact or abusive/offensive comments of a sexual nature
- Cyber
The competitive nature of the game makes it a potential environment for bullying and may manifest itself in the following ways:-
- Hostility towards team members
- Intolerance of team members
- A parent who pushes too hard
- A coach who adopts a 'win at all costs' philosophy
ANY COMPLAINT, DISCLOSURE, CONCERN OR OBSERVATION SHOULD BE REPORTED TO THE CLUB WELFARE OFFICER PROMPTLY.
