We would like to thank EVERYONE that completed our petition, including club friends, members, Essex Rugby, local clubs and the whole grassroots rugby population who took the trouble to get involved. We have had help from the local council, in particular Gavin Callaghan, and our MP John Baron is also lending his support.
With all this help and a bit of cooperation from Inland Homes, we have made considerable progress. There is now a letter offering an extension to the lease which is very welcome and an excellent start. To guarantee the clubs security of tenure though, we need to get the lease amended to remove the 'break' clauses which allow early exit from the deal and also fix the ongoing rental at an affordable level.
We hope to meet before the sale of the freehold in the near future with all parties, to develop a binding agreement. We will of course keep you abreast of developments as we go.
Paul (Johnno) Johnson, Chairman
