The club is delighted with the success of the men's First and Second teams this year. It's a testament to the good environment at the club at the moment which has been carefully nurtured by the likes Head Coach Garry Bettis, Chairwoman Joanne Colyer, Second Team manager Andy Cook and of course the players. There are of course countless other volunteers that help bring it all together and will be thanked in due course.
The first team have just finished their third season at this level and with promotion the club will be looking forward to renewing some old rivalries in the league above. The First Team have been led well by Captain Joe Penn, ably supported by assistant coaches and players Joe Heavey and Robin Groves. We say goodbye to Robin this year due to retirement after more than a decade playing for the Ones who at 36 with his first child on the way insists this time he means it.
The Second Team have also had a brilliant year, only losing two games and they will be looking forward to testing themselves against more difficult opposition in the league above next year if they choose to. Manager Andy Cook and Captain Matt Bryan have brought a real solidity to the Twos, having played every fixture they have provided a brilliant environment for nurturing our younger talent and that will continue to be the priority.
With Player's Dinner and the 70th Anniversary Ball still to come there will inevitably be time to celebrate but the Ones and Twos both still have two cup competitions to play in each so hopefully there will be more to celebrate when we get there.
